Plants Producing Alternative Energy Sources
Technological developments are continuing Mbang from year to year to the era of modern technology. In this era of globalization, the price of crude oil in the world market continues to rise and tend to soar. This is certainly a problem that must be addressed by various parties and circles. Therefore, many parties are then immediately looking for alternative
sources of alternative energy sources, such as energy sources from
natural gas and also coal used for power generation.
But all of them are still risky because it can cause energy scarcity. Therefore there are some parties that develop energy using natural power. One way is to utilize various growing plants as a producer of new alternative energy sources. Although still in the experimental stage and not widely used, but at
least these plants can be used as an alternative energy source. Here are some plants that can be used as an alternative and explanation.
Alternative Energy Source Plants
1. Corn Plant
Corn is a plant that can be used to produce energy. The trick is to make ethanol from corn which is now widely done. But using corn to become bio-fuel will create a new problem, which reduces the supply of food for humans. Now, a company called Poet that for 20 years makes
ethanol from corn, along with several agricultural equipment
manufacturers are developing ways to harvest, store and send corn cobs. According to Poet, one time a corn cob could be an alternative fuel source. A lot of corn cobs around the factory and it's all the energy source provided by nature for the company.
2. Jatropha Distance
Jatropha (Jatropha Jathropa) became very popular because it can be used as an environmentally friendly alternative energy. The seeds are capable of producing mixed oil for diesel. Apart from jatropha curcas, basically the oil
produced from plants can be used as a mixture of diesel, such as palm
oil or soybeans.
From the Experimental Agency for Assessment and
Application of Technology (BPPT), a mixture of diesel and vegetable oil
(biodiesel) has higher cetane value (octane in gasoline) than pure
diesel. Solar mixed with vegetable oils produces better combustion than pure diesel so that emissions are safer for the environment. In one liter of fuel, the composition of vegetable
oils that can be used is only 30 percent so as not to disrupt the engine
used the vehicle now. According to him, in some developed countries biodiesel has even been used 100 percent with engine modifications. Rubber materials are replaced with oil-resistant viton synthesis.
Although new trials are conducted for vegetable oils from palm oil, it can also be done for castor oil. Crude oil of dried beans will be processed by trans-esterification process using methanol to separate water. The reaction is relatively simple and only takes about 10 percent of methanol. Nearly 100 percent of the oil can be purified, even producing glycerol byproducts that are also economically valuable.
3. Algae
Algae plant is the most efficient alternative energy generating plant. This plant is estimated to produce 200 times more than other diesel fuel-producing plants. The similarity it produces can be seen as a tremendous fortune.
Based on calculations, algae processing on an area of
10 million acres or about 4,646 hectares capable of producing
biodiesel that will be able to replace all diesel needs in the United
States. The land is only 1% of the total land currently used for agricultural land and grasslands (about 1 billion acres). It is estimated that algae can produce 200 times more oil than oil-producing plants (palm oil, jatropha) at its best.
